Bismuth is a silvery white to pink metal. The element symbol is Bi. The atomic number is 83. Bismuth is in the VA group of the sixth period of the periodic table. When bismuth is heated above the melting point, it can burn and emit a light blue flame to form bismuth trioxide. Bismuth can also be combined with sulfur and halogen when it is red hot.
