Boron is a kind of powder with black or dark brown appearance. The chemical formula is B. The melting point is 2079 ℃. The boiling point is 3927 ℃. The amorphous boron is brown powder, and the crystalline boron is gray black. Crystalline boron is more inert and amorphous boron is more active. The hardness of boron is similar to that of diamond.
